I may not understand the challenge as being a feathered critter as none of the inspiration cards and most of the entries do not have any feathered critters on them. It seems ok to enter a card with a critter that is not feathered. Am I correct?

It is FEATURED creatures challenge, which means it features a creature, not a FEATHERED creature. Hope this helps.
