Challenge # 6 Sponsored by Fabrika Fantasy

Welcome to our Sixth Challenge here at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies.  If you're new to our challenge, we're a monthly challenge and we have a sponsor each month.   We choose a random winner on the last day of the month, then announce the winner on the same day the next challenge goes live.

REMEMBER, you have to be a follower to win!

So, the winner of the prize offered by SheepSki Designs for our August challenge is:

with this fab card.

Congratulations!  Please email us at 2craftycrittercrazies(at)gmail(dot)com  so that we can arrange to get your prize to you.

In addition, we've chosen Lori Kobular to be our Guest Designer in October.  She left us a comment that she'd love to be a GDT and we're thrilled that she did.  :-D

We're sponsored this month by Fabrika Fantasy and here's a little bit about them.

We are a small creative team writing and illustrating fantasy adventure and children's books. We love to draw fun and amusing characters, and are happy to offer them to you as digital stamps. We hope you like these digital images and they help make your creations bright, interesting and memorable!

We start a new challenge on the 1st of each month and end the day before the last day of the month.  However, we have one requirement for every project submitted in our challenges -- they MUST feature a creature!  Whether Furry, Feathered, Fantasy, Fairytale, Fins, Scaly, or Insect, there must be a critter featured and not just a teeny, tiny bug hidden in a corner somewhere.  :-D

You may enter as many other challenges as you like and you may enter our challenge up to 5 times per month but each entry must be a different project.  We have a sponsor each month and we choose a random winner on the last day of the month, then announce the winner at the same time as the next challenge goes live.

We will also be inviting Guest Designers to join us each month so if you think you might be interested in being our Guest Designer in November, please add GD after your name or leave us a comment on this post saying you'd like to be a Guest Designer.

Here's a little inspiration from our team to encourage you and, this month, we are delighted to welcome our Guest Designer, DebiB.  Thanks, Debi, and here's her fantastic card.

Summertime Living

If you're looking for the challenge, scroll down one post or click HERE.

Hello Friends,

Summertime and the living is easy. It sure is for a certain pussy cat on Prince Edward Island, Canada, ever since my husband finished renovations on our new outdoor pet shelter.
Plussette has enjoyed it almost every day and doesn't mind sharing it with some of my other pets. Emma and Malu (guinea pigs) had a couple of turns. My rabbits - Ricky and Jelly Bean were out twice as well. Unfortunately, they cannot be together because they fight and have many battle scars to show for it. Our other cat, Mineau, was out once, but she complained until I brought her back in. She hates being outside.

We have a padlock on the door so if I have to be inside for a while, the pets are secure. I wouldn't leave them in there unless we were home. Many outdoor cats around here (and even small dogs) have fallen victim to coyotes, foxes or eagles. It is nice to sit outside, enjoying the weather and watching my little critters getting to do the same, without risk to their well-being.

Yup. Summertime and the living is easy, thanks to my handy and handsome husband. He is my very most favorite critter.
Thanks for stopping in. I hope you will show us pics of your pets by using the Inlinkz below. Do you have special shelters, furniture or toys that you have made or bought for them? We would love to see those too.

Tortoise or Turtle?

According to Britannica.com

"All tortoises are in fact turtles—that is, they belong to the order Testudines or Chelonia, reptiles having bodies encased in a bony shell—but not all turtles are tortoises.  The most important thing to remember about tortoises is that they are exclusively land creatures. However, not all land turtles are tortoises; thus, box turtles and wood turtles have been called tortoises, though they are not considered tortoises today. But that’s a matter for another day."

Now for a funny story :)  My daughter in law knew I wanted a tortoise, a friend of a friend had two for free!  I jumped at the chance!  This person asked if I was sure I wanted them as she didn't want them back.  My daughter in law was going to collect them as we were going to be away, I assured her tortoises were easy to look after especially in summer.  I talked to my son about making a pen in the back garden for day time and my grand daughter was so excited.  My son phoned to say they had set everything up in my house, then my daughter who was looking after my plants, phoned me and said "It's not a tortoise it's a turtle!"

According to Pet Education

"The terms 'turtle,' 'tortoise,' and 'terrapin' are often used interchangeably, and depending on which country you are in, may describe a completely different type of 'turtle.'

For most Americans, the term 'turtle' describes the Chelonians that are aquatic or semi-aquatic. The term 'tortoise' describes a Chelonian that lives primarily on land. 'Terrapin' can describe some freshwater or saltwater turtles, but is not often used.

If you were in Australia, you might call all of the turtles 'tortoises,' and in Britain, a 'turtle' would mean a saltwater species and a 'terrapin' would be a freshwater species. Are you confused yet? "

The Polish language only as one word  also, hence the confusion.  I now have a turtle (one died before they were collected), which I hope to find a good home for.

If you have a tortoise or turtle or any other kind of pet we would love to see some photographs.

We are going to try something new this month. You can vote for your favourite pet pic on this link-up.
